Craig MacGillivray stormed to a 4-0 victory over Falkirk’s Michael Philbin 4-0 in the final of the Scottish Masters Series Event One at The Creamery Club in Falkirk last night.

The Granton ace won a close opening frame, coming from behind to clear the colours to win the frame on the black. After that it was all one-way traffic as MacGillivray produced some excellent form-making breaks of 70, 68 and 50. The victory made it an impressive five tournament victories out of seven events since the 41-year-old former professional became eligible to enter the Masters series events.

MacGillivray said: “I am really pleased with my performance. The first frame was scrappy, but after that I found some form and I scored really well. To win the opening Main Tour and Masters series events is fantastic and hopefully I can keep this form going this season.”

Meanwhile, Bonnyrigg pro Michael Leslie is back in action tomorrow when he plays India’s rising star Aditya Mehta in the opening round of European Tour Event 6 in Antwerp, Belgium. Edinburgh-based pro Scott Donaldson plays England’s Adam Duffy.
